Love Your Pet Day

Love Your Pet day was February 20th. While we think pets deserve to feel loved every day, this is a great excuse to show your animal companion some extra TLC. Read on as a Leesburg, VA vet lists some great ways to pamper your furry friend on this special holiday.

Treats are definitely at the top of the list of things your pet would ask for if they could. Just stick with healthy options. Cooked meat, fish, or poultry is a good bet for both dogs and cats, as long as you remove the skin, bones, and fat.

Fluffy and Fido are both pretty sleepy, as you’ve probably noticed. Why not get your pet a new bed? This is a good option even for pets that already have beds. It’s always nice to have options!

Do you have a yard for your pup to play in? Get Fido a doghouse! If you have a cat, your feline buddy may enjoy a cat tower or a pet tent or tipi. You can even make Fluffy a box castle!

Toys are very beneficial for both dogs and cats. They’re also a great way to brighten your furry pal’s day up a bit. Pick up a new plaything for Fido or Fluffy, and indulge them with a fun play session.

We know, most of you already have tons of photos of your pets. However, you just can’t have too many cute photos of your four-legged buddy. Snap some cute pics!

This one mostly applies to dog, unless you happen to have a cat that likes being walked on a leash. If the weather is nice, take Fido to a park, and entertain him with a few rounds of Fetch. If it’s too cold out, just play with your furry friend indoors.

Spend a quiet evening at home enjoying some quality time with your dog or cat. Binge watch your favorite show, or check out a new movie. Cook something yummy for yourself, and offer your pet lots of treats, cuddles, and ear scritches.
