Cute Ways To Celebrate Happy Cat Month

September 1, 2022
September is Happy Cat Month! Our feline friends are easy keepers, which is definitely a great characteristic in a pet. However, Fluffy does need good care to thrive. Good food, a clean litterbox, and regular veterinary care will cover the basics. However, those things don’t really provide much enrichment or stimulation, both of which are very important. In this article, a local Leesburg, VA vet lists a few things you can do to get—and keep—that little motor going below.

Kitty Furniture

Fluffy isn’t particularly shy about getting comfy on your bed, sofa, chair, futon, kitchen table, or, well, anything else in your home. However, she really should have a few things that she doesn’t have to share with her humans. Pick up a new bed, window seat, or scratching post for your feline pal. Your pet won’t mind a cat tower or kitty condo, either!

Cuddle Sessions

Kitties are naturally very cuddly, which is one of the reasons we love them so much. Pay lots of attention to Fluffy! Even just giving her a quick forehead scratch can make her feel loved.

Take A Walk

This isn’t going to be right for every kitty. However, if your furball is bold and courageous, and full of beans (figuratively, not literally), she may enjoy being walked on a leash.

Toys!

Few things make Fluffy happier than being able to shred a new toy. Pick up a few playthings for your feline buddy. You can go with classics, like catnip mice, or try a modern toy, like a remote-controlled mouse. It’s also important to play with your cat regularly. Playtime is always better with friends!

Boxes

Our furry friends have a way of reminding us that sometimes the best things in life really are free. Remember to bring Fluffy new boxes to investigate and conquer sometimes!

Pay It Forward

Don’t forget about the kitties that are out there who really aren’t happy at the moment. There are far too many cute, lovable furballs in shelters, who are in desperate need of warm laps and loving homes. If you have the room and budget, you may want to consider adopting one. Otherwise, you can still help out by donating, volunteering, or even just spreading the word. As your local Leesburg, VA animal clinic, we are dedicated to offering great veterinary care.
