Her lifelong passion for pets, coupled with her years of experience in the customer-service world, makes her work here at Lansdowne Animal Hospital the perfect fit! Carla is proud to serve as a member of the clinic’s talented front-desk team.

Carla has been a part of the Lansdowne Animal Hospital family since February of 2015. She’s often the first friendly face you’ll see here at the clinic—you’re bound to have a few laughs with her during your visit!

In her time away from the office, Carla enjoys crafting, gardening (she’s especially proud of her beautiful peonies), antiquing, and spending quality time with her family and pets. She has three dogs—Annie, Diamond, and Penny—as well as a pair of cats, Benny and Bunny, and several fish.

Veterinary Nurse
There was never a question in Alyssa’s mind as to what she planned on doing when she grew up—she always knew that she wanted to work hands-on to better the lives of all the animals she possibly could. Alyssa’s passion for pet care hasn’t quit! She gets to help pets and their loving owners on a daily basis as a Veterinary Nurse with Lansdowne Animal Hospital.

Originally from the small town of Grottoes, Virginia, Alyssa took all of the animal-related electives that she could during high school, even signing on for a two-year Veterinary Assistant certification class in her final years. Through the program, Alyssa began shadowing at the local SPCA’s spay-and-neuter clinic, and continued to volunteer there after graduating. Three months later, she was hired!

After some time spent working at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Alyssa moved to this area to be closer to family. It wasn’t long before she had joined the team here at Lansdowne Animal Hospital—she became a Veterinary Assistant at the clinic in April of 2019 and couldn’t be happier to help the area’s pets and animal parents. Alyssa especially likes emergency work, surgical preparation and monitoring, and ear cleanings.

In her spare time, Alyssa enjoys reading fantasy and fan fiction, going for hikes and nature walks, and spending quality time with her family and pets. She and her wife, Kelsey—a Veterinary Technician herself!—share their lives with Rumple, a 75-pound Boxer mix who believes he is a lap dog, as well as a loveable grey tortoiseshell cat who goes by Freya.
