Our Veterinarian

Dr. Brenda Godlewski

Dr. Brenda Godlewski

Owner, Veterinarian

Dr. Brenda Godlewski (Dr. G) was six years old when she declared that she was going to be a veterinarian. Growing up on Long Island, New York, her first pets: Cindy, an ever-tolerant white cat, and Goldie, a Golden Retriever, were her main sources of inspiration. They both had an intuitiveness about them — as many animals do — knowing just when to nuzzle up and give love. They communicated so much without any words. To see them, or any animal, in pain was intolerable. Today, Dr. Godlewski still watches her furry patients communicate without words, giving her valuable clues that help her care for them. While growing up, some tried to persuade her to consider an alternative career as veterinary school was quite competitive. However, the bond she shared with her pets and her determination, along with her aptitude in the sciences, cemented her desire to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. Following her graduation from high school, Dr. Godlewski attended SUNY Binghamton, receiving bachelor’s degrees in two completely different fields. With a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Bachelor of Science in Biology, she planned to focus on medical illustration if she didn’t get into veterinary school Fortunately, she was accepted into Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine and earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine.

Our Staff

Sue Perkins

Sue Perkins

Licensed Veterinary Technician

For Sue Perkins, veterinary medicine has always been a journey of growth—both professionally and personally. Starting out with a love for horses and a fascination with science, Sue found herself drawn into the challenges and rewards of animal care early on. After years of working in high-intensity specialty practices, she joined Lansdowne Animal Hospital in August 2022, seeking a healthier balance while still making a meaningful impact. She found the perfect fit in a team that values both excellent care and the well-being of its staff.

Sue’s path into small animal medicine was shaped not only by experience but by inspiration. While attending a lecture on “Fear Free” veterinary practices—an approach that nurtures both the emotional and physical health of pets—Sue felt something click. This philosophy resonated deeply, sparking a new passion for behavioral care and leading her to become Fear Free certified.

At Lansdowne, Sue thrives on client education and hands-on care. She loves empowering pet owners with knowledge that can transform their pets’ lives, whether it’s through behavior counseling or teaching better health practices. Some of her favorite responsibilities include monitoring anesthesia, guiding pets through recovery, and collecting lab samples.

A lifelong Virginia native, Sue now lives in Leesburg with her husband, enjoying life as a grandmother of five and sharing her home with Marigold, the “supermodel” orange tabby she rescued after a miraculous recovery from paralysis. Outside the clinic, Sue is as active as ever—gardening, raising chickens, hiking, and even competing in triathlons and adventure races.

Colby Hartke

Colby Hartke

Veterinary Assistant

Growing up surrounded by dogs and cats, Colby Hartke found that animals brought a sense of peace and joy that grounded him. A deep bond with his own pets sparked a lifelong passion, and today, he channels that connection into his role at Lansdowne Animal Hospital, helping ensure every patient receives the care and compassion they deserve.

Colby began his veterinary journey in 2006 at his grandfather’s practice in Maryland. It was there that he learned the fundamentals of animal care and realized he had found his calling. In 2015, a move to Florida brought new opportunities, where Colby became certified in acquiring small animal abdominal and echocardiogram ultrasound images—skills that continue to shape his role today. In 2020, he returned to West Virginia, drawn back by the beauty of the mountains and the serenity of the rivers he missed.

At Lansdowne, Colby finds fulfillment in helping both patients and pet parents navigate care with confidence. He’s especially passionate about sonography and enjoys using imaging to uncover answers that guide treatment plans and bring peace of mind. Seeing a pet bounce back after therapy, or simply watching a familiar patient wag their tail with excitement at a visit, reinforces why he loves what he does.

Outside the clinic, Colby finds peace in the quiet beauty of his West Virginia surroundings. Whether he’s on the water or hiking the trails, he values the calm that nature brings—just like the calm he works to bring to each patient and client who walks through the door. With years of experience and a heart rooted in compassion, Colby is proud to be part of a team that delivers care you can trust.

Ashlly Frazee

Ashlly Frazee

Veterinary Assistant

Ash has been a passionate member of the veterinary field since 2018 and has been part of the team at LAH since 2020. Currently pursuing her degree to become a licensed veterinary technician, she is on track to graduate in 2026. With a strong interest in dentistry and animal behavior, Ash thrives on helping challenging patients feel comfortable and cared for. Outside of her veterinary work, Ash enjoys LARP’ing with her husband, immersing herself in creative adventures, and spending quality time with her playful dog, Ember. Her dedication to animal care and her vibrant hobbies makes her a valuable asset both at work and in life!

Faith Thorpe

Faith Thorpe

Veterinary Assistant

Faith joined Lansdowne Animal Hospital nearly a year ago after trading in her equine roots for life in small animal medicine—and she’s been loving every minute of it. Her veterinary journey began at just 14, working in a horse barn, and becoming an equine vet assistant. One unforgettable moment for Faith was assisting with an emergency goat C-section in a barn and helping newborn kids take their first breath. That’s when she knew—this is where she’s meant to be.

At the clinic, Faith is passionate about helping pets heal, supporting their humans, and soaking up all the medical knowledge she can. She grew up in a small country town as an only child and now shares life with her fiancé, Tony, and their pup Sawyer—the rubber-ball-obsessed furbaby who keeps Faith on her toes. When she’s not at work, Faith is outside, spending time with friends, family, or on a walk with Sawyer.

Elaine Segretto

Elaine Segretto

Hospital Manager

After 18 years with another practice, Elaine Segretto joined Lansdowne Animal Hospital in October 2021, bringing with her a deep commitment to both pets and the people who care for them. Though her career began in sales, Elaine quickly realized that something was missing—she wanted her work to have meaning, to make a difference.

Her journey into veterinary care began with a childhood memory: caring for a neighbor’s senior dog. Watching him struggle with arthritis, Elaine saw firsthand how compassion and care could make a pet’s later years more comfortable. That experience stayed with her and ultimately led her to a career where every day brings a new opportunity to help animals live healthier, happier lives.

As Hospital Manager, Elaine loves working directly with clients, ensuring their concerns are heard and their pets are cared for with the highest standards. She’s passionate about supporting her team, helping staff grow their skills so they can provide the best possible care. She also enjoys the behind-the-scenes work of helping the hospital thrive and expand.

Elaine grew up in Montgomery County, Maryland, and attended the University of Maryland, College Park. At home, she shares life with her loyal German Shepherd and a cat, always enjoying the companionship of pets. Outside of the clinic, she finds peace in hiking and spending time outdoors, recharging in nature so she can return to the clinic ready to support the pets and people who rely on her.

Kristen Butterfield Wilson

Kristen Butterfield Wilson

Client Service Representative

Kristen joined Lansdowne Animal Hospital in the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic and became a comforting, steady presence at our front desk. Her journey in animal care began in 2012, where she discovered a passion for pets and supporting their people, offering empathy and kindness during joyful and challenging moments.

A Leesburg native, Kristen grew up with her parents and two brothers and has always loved music—playing flute and piccolo in marching band. Today, she and her husband are raising two young sons alongside their yellow Lab mix siblings, Elsa and Olaf. (Elsa runs the show, and Olaf’s just happy to be part of it!)

Outside of work, Kristen enjoys writing, being outdoors, and connecting with others. Her strong faith inspires the care and compassion she brings to every client interaction.

Grace Harris

Grace Harris

She’s currently pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences from Liberty University. Grace is always excited to combine her love for animals with her passion for helping others.

Born and raised in Hamilton, VA, Grace grew up with a house full of siblings and pets—from dogs and cats to rabbits and guinea pigs. Today, she shares her home with Blue, a spunky Pomsky she adopted from LCAS who loves car rides, walks, and swimming.
